Company Introduction:	glass CMB COSTRUZIONI MECCANICHE BESANA was established in 1917 under the name of Officina Meccanica F.lli Besana in Milano, for the construction of glass processing machines and tannery machines. glassThe first glass processing machines were grinding lathes with cast iron wheels on which glass was ground using silica or sea sand. glassLater on silica was replaced by carborundum powder. In this period the first belts made their first appearance. These machines were also utilized to grind shaped glass. glassAfter this first series of manual grinders the company created the first vertical grinding machine with a big diameter wheel of carborundum and corundum with a certain number of grooves in which groups of 4 to 6 glass sheets at the same time were passed. glassThese wheels were of different grit and at the end of process there were polishing wheels.
